An air conditioning blower motor circulates air through the indoor unit and distributes heated or cooled air through the air vents. When the blower motor starts to fail, you may experience weak airflow, unusual noises or no airflow at all.
Many air conditioning systems use 240V three-speed blower motors with a capacitor. Over time, capacitors can deteriorate and place additional stress on the motor, potentially leading to overheating or motor failure.
Weak or reduced airflow can be an early indication that the blower motor is struggling. Worn bearings, dirt, lack of lubrication or other mechanical problems can increase resistance and prevent the blower from operating correctly.
Overheating and unusual noises are also common warning signs. Scraping, whining or rattling noises may indicate worn bearings or other internal motor problems. In some cases, replacing the bearings can restore the motor without replacing the complete unit.
Sydney Motor Rewinds keeps a wide range of single and twin shaft air conditioning blower motors in stock. In many cases, we can replace the motor while retaining the existing fan deck and impeller, helping to reduce installation time and costs.
Pricing starts from $320 + GST for single shaft blower motor replacement and $380 + GST for twin shaft blower motor replacement.
If your air conditioning blower motor is noisy, overheating or not moving enough air, contact Sydney Motor Rewinds to discuss the repair or replacement options available for your system.
