A pool pump is an electric motor attached to an impeller. As the impeller spins, it pulls water through pipes that are attached to the drain and skimmer (the opening at the water line where pool water enters the filtration system). The pump pushes that water through the filtration system, pool heater, and back to the pool to continue the cycle.
A properly functioning pool pump is critical to keeping the water in your swimming pool safe and clean. The pump circulates pool water through a pool filter to clean it, and sometimes moves it through a heater to keep it warm. If it stops working, pool debris collects and algae flourishe. As a result, the pool turns green.
Over time, the mechanical seal in the pool pump deteriorates. This can cause water to leak into the motor and damage the bearings. If left in this state for a prolonged period of time, the water could reach the windings and burnout the motor.
So if your pool pump is getting noisy or you notice water dripping from it, chances are the seal has started to fail and it's time to get the pump serviced.
Don't wait until the pool pump fails! Bring it to us for a bearings and mechanical seal replacement for $200+gst. (Pricing applicable to most pump models)
